STADE RENNAIS went 10 games without a win as they managed a draw at home to Bordeaux- a record that hasn't been matched in over 20 years.

Paul-Georges Ntep scored on ten minutes for Rennes but this was then cancelled out late on in the second half by a controversial penalty which was scored by Wahbi Khazri.

Goal scorer Khazri had the first real chance of the game when he curled an effort from distance at goal but Costil managed to get a strong hand on the ball to divert wide.

Bordeaux enjoyed a dominant spell in the very early stages of the match but this was to be abruptly interrupted when Rennes put themselves ahead. One touch passing play culminated in Abdoulaye Doucoure placing a pass in Ntep's direction- the winger composed himself to strike low into the left of the net.

Right-back, Mariano, was Bordeaux's biggest attacking threat, having an easy time up against his opposite, Cheikh M'Bengue. He almost created the leveller as his teasing cross was flicked goalwards by Henri Saivet forcing Benoit Costil into an excellent reaction save.

Before the half time whistle, Bordeaux was awarded a free kick on the edge of the area- Costil was made to work again as he managed to get the slightest of touches on Khazri's shot which was destined for the top corner.

Whereas at the other end, Rennes could have doubled their lead when Ola Toivonen found himself baring down on goal but his effort on target was saved by Cedric Carraso.

Bordeaux could have started the second half with 10 men as Clement Chantome put in a vicious studded challenge on substitute, Anders Konradsen, leaving the Norwegian midfielder floored.

Bordeaux still remained as a team likely to score as they kept plugging away at the Rennes defence who continuously absorbed their attacks. Although the statistics showed Bordeaux domination, they still couldn't find the vital leveler.

Out of nothing Bordeaux were handed a golden opportunity to score as they were awarded a controversial penalty on 77 minutes. Substitute, Deigo Rolan went down after appearing to collide with Gelson Fernandes as the striker was about to pull the trigger on goal. Khazri was given the job to score the penalty and he duly obliged, sending Costil the wrong way.

Before full time, Toivonen could have restored Rennes' lead, miraculously staring down the goal. The Swede opted to volley from just outside the box, causing no trouble for Carraso who saved easily.

After the full time whistle, boos could be heard from the home side, another game without a win for Les Rouges et Noirs, having had the three points snatched in the most controversial of decisions this season. Rennes travel to RC Lens next week in Ligue 1, meanwhile Bordeaux host Stade de Reims.
