Dear Reader,
As creator of the website, I believe that it's right that I keep you up to date with all the happenings of the site. These updates, starting today, will address several issues throughout the year.
This statement in particular is to say a massive thank you to all the visitors to We Are Rennes as well as the many hundreds of Twitter followers on the page that supports the website.
One year ago on this month, I set up this location for supporters of Rennes and other football fans to keep up to date with the club we love. It took much planning in the developing stages, and to some extent we are still at this point. However the site and the Twitter page has come on leaps and bounds in the year and I want to say a massive thank you for supporting it.
I believed that it was going to be tricky and from the beginning there were some who didn't understand the concept, or why Rennes needed a main English written page. I believe that for the club to expand, it needs to span an even greater barrier than it does now. By no means am I saying that this website is the major way to break down that barrier, but it is always good to have several options open for fans old and new.
There have been many ups and downs over the past year, on the field and on the website, to which I have enjoyed the journey and experienced a lot in what it means to be a supporter of Stade Rennais FC. Some highlights include the interaction I have with fans on the Twitter page, celebrating in unison at goals and results whilst I'm sitting in Glasgow, Scotland.
I would also like to thank many key people for help in different areas such as Rich Allen and Brendan McFarlane, as well as Stade Rennais UK on Twitter.
Other highlights include the club's recognition of the website by following its Twitter page- something that made me proud on a personal note. Finally, the banter with other club's fans and knowing that the site has done it job in informing and English speaking audience.
Here's to another year with We Are Rennes and all the joys that come with it. I hope for another event filled 365 days.
Merci Beaucoup,
Allez Les Rouges et Noirs.
