Stade Rennais take on Scottish champions Celtic in a friendly on Saturday afternoon- a fixture which is welcome for both sides.
It has been a pre-season of mixed fortunes for the travelling Rennes side, coming from a 3-3 draw with lower league Ulm.
In that match, Swedish striker, Ola Toivonen managed to bag all three goals and claim a hat-trick.
However, this is a different environment altogether for manager, Philippe Montainer's side as they face Ronny Deila's Celtic who return after a UEFA Champions League qualifier.
Celtic's pre-season has been more positive than their opposites come Saturday, wrapping up several victories and experiencing one defeat to Dukla Prague.
Both sides have boosted their player numbers in the current transfer window and many will be pushing for a place in their respective starting elevens.
Rennes and Celtic have both purchased centre-halves with Dedryck Boyata joining 'The Bhoys' from Manchester City, whereas the Bretons have acquired the services of Pedro Mendes from Parma.
This match is a excellent opportunity for the two new stoppers to show their worth to fans and managers alike to prove that this should be their cemented position as they both face dangerous attackers.
Unfortunately, highly rated winger Paul-Georges Ntep will be out the fixture as he picked up a serious injury several weeks ago.
Several Rennes fans have made the journey over to their C(k)eltic neighbours to the north and they'll be made very welcome in Scotland's largest city.
Tickets are free for Celtic season ticket holders but it is probable that a considerable number will appear for the match- but do not expect a full house.
Probable Teams:
Celtic: Bailly; Janko, Boyata, van Dijk, Izaguirre; Brown, Rogic; Forrest, Johansen, Mackay-Steven; Ciftci
Rennes: Costil; Danze, Mendes, Armand, M'Bengue; Fernandes, Sylla; Grosicki, Doucoure, Henrique; Toivonen
